The grill is generally used for cooking meats; however, you can prepare dozens of delicious savory and sweet dishes on it, such as "banana boats."
Preparing them is very simple; all you need is a 2-burner convective gas grill, ripe plantains, and other very easy-to-find ingredients.
Ingredients:
- 2 ripe plantains
- ¼ cup chocolate chips
- ¼ cup mini marshmallows
- 4 Maria-style cookies, crumbled
The marshmallows can be substituted with ¼ cup of diced strawberries or ¼ cup of peanut butter chips.
If you use strawberries, change the cookies. You can swap them for ¼ cup of crushed hazelnuts, but if you prefer peanut butter, use ¼ cup of ground peanuts instead of cookies.
Steps:
- Take the unpeeled plantains and make a lengthwise cut. Open it slightly for the filling.
- Using aluminum foil, form a base to keep the plantains steady, with the cut facing up. Place all of this on a flat baking sheet.
- Combine the filling ingredients in a bowl.
Option 1 – chocolate chips, marshmallows, and crushed cookies.
Option 2 – chocolate chips, diced strawberries, and pulverized hazelnuts.
Option 3 – chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, and ground peanuts.
- Insert the mixture into the cut of the plantain.
- While stuffing the plantains, preheat the grill to 350° F.
- Place the tray with the stuffed plantains on the grill and let them cook for eight to 10 minutes.
- After this time, carefully remove the tray and serve.
