Protection and beauty for doors with appropriate coatings

Protection and beauty for doors with proper coatings

Doors are fundamental in the home, as they allow for the creation and separation of rooms, provide an atmosphere of privacy, and are necessary for the protection of both people and all those belongings and valuables inside the home.

In addition, these pieces are an essential part of the home's decoration and style, which are sufficient reasons to give them proper maintenance that allows them to always be in optimal condition and look as good as the rest of the rooms.

Prepare your materials and get to work.

Do it yourself!

Materials:

- 6” mini roller

- #150 wood sandpaper

- Stain Killer primer ¼ gallon

- Wall Master white paint ¼ gallon

- 2” standard professional brush

- 9” paint tray

- 1” blue Scotch tape

- 1L mineral spirits

Instructions:

1. Clean all door surfaces with a damp cloth to remove dirt and let dry for a few minutes.

2. Use the Scotch tape to cover areas that should not be stained by the coatings, such as hinges, frames, and handles.

3. Cover the entire door with the Stain Killer primer. To do this, use the roller to cover the larger parts, and use the brush to apply the solution in corners, edges, and other small spaces, as well as on details.

4. Let dry for an hour, then sand and clean again with a damp cloth to remove dust. It must be completely dry for the next step.

5. Meanwhile, pour the paint into the tray and prepare it with the mineral spirits. Follow the manufacturer's instructions indicated on the labels of both products.

6. Once 60 minutes have passed and the paint is ready, paint all areas of the door. Likewise, apply with the roller on large parts and with the brush in small spaces, corners, edges, and details.

7. Let dry for two hours and, after this time, apply the second coat of paint.
