Pets are the new darlings of the home; their love, loyalty, and companionship complement families and provide happy moments.
But having a pet requires time to train them and help them stay in good physical condition.
Training your pet will help reinforce their education, obedience, and focus, and it also improves the relationship between the animal and its owner.
Therefore, we bring you an idea for making your own DIY homemade obstacles to train your dog and help them burn off energy.
Small obstacle
1. Reciprocating saw to cut the pipes
2. 2 x 1” PVC pipes
3. 4 x 1” Tees
4. 6 x 1” female caps
5. 1 metal cutting blade for saw.
Instructions:
Step 1. You must make the following cuts in the PVC pipes with the reciprocating saw; it is important to start at the end without the socket.
Make 2 cuts of 20 cm, 2 cuts of 40 cm, 4 cuts of 30 cm, and 2 cuts of 100 cm.
Step 2. Connect two 30cm pieces and one 20cm piece consecutively to a Tee, with the 20cm piece placed transversely to assemble the bottom of the obstacle's side. Join the second Tee to the other end of this 20cm piece, to place it consecutively to a 40cm piece, leaving the transverse connection of the Tee free. This step is repeated to assemble the second side of the obstacle.
Step 3. Once the sides are assembled, orient the transverse Tee sockets to one side and join them together by fitting the 100 cm piece between both, providing support and balance to the obstacle.
Step 4. Finally, place the female caps on the 6 ends where the pipe cut is exposed to improve the aesthetic.
Large hoop obstacle
1. Reciprocating saw
2. Drill
3. 3 x 2” PVC pipes
4. 4 x 2” Tees
5. 4 x 2” female caps
6. 2 x 2” elbows
7. 260 cm of drain hose
8. 1 m of chain
9. 1 x 3/16 link
10. 5/16 drill bit
11. 1 eye bolt
12. Electrical or packing tape
Instructions:
Step 1. Make the following cuts in the PVC pipes with the reciprocating saw; start at the end without the socket and make 2 cuts of 20 cm, 4 cuts of 35 cm, 2 cuts of 90 cm, and 2 cuts of 120 cm. Drill one of these 90 cm pieces at 45 cm and place the eye bolt through this hole.
Step 2. Join two 35cm pieces and one 20cm piece to a Tee, with the latter piece in the transverse socket of the Tee. Attach a Tee with a 120 cm piece to this piece, leaving the transverse socket of the Tee exposed. Then take the last 120 cm piece, which joins to an elbow to complete one of the sides of the obstacle. This step is repeated to complete the second side.
Step 3. Once the sides are assembled, join them together with the two 90 cm pieces, where the piece with the eye bolt joins the elbows at the top and the other piece joins the exposed transverse socket of the Tees at the bottom.
Step 4. Place the 4 caps on the exposed cuts of the 35 cm pieces at the bottom.
Step 5. Join the ends of the drain hose to form a hoop and secure it with the tape.
Step 6. Attach the hoop to the eye bolt with one end of the chain using the link, and pass the other end of the chain through the hose hoop. Finally, adjust the desired height of the hoop by connecting one of the chain links to the eye bolt attachment link.
Thus, with a few materials and tools, you can create your own obstacle course to entertain your pet and spend fun moments as a family.
