July 2024 Did you know that last June we brought art, culture, and color to San José? We achieved this by bringing an exhibition by the Franco-Venezuelan artist Carlos Cruz Diez, and by painting two pedestrian crosswalks.
In the context of the centenary of the birth of the “master of color,” as Cruz Diez is known, we brought to the country 16 reproductions from the international exhibition: “RGB: The Colors of the Century,” which has been on display since June 14 and runs through September 1 at the Museum of Costa Rican Art (MAC), and which we invite you to visit.

The acronym RGB refers to the colors red, green, and blue. These are used to represent any color by combining them with black. By combining them, more than 16 million different colors can be created, and that is what this exhibition highlights. With movement, the person will visually experience the appearance and disappearance of colors.
This is the first time this exhibition has been presented in Central America and the second time in Latin America, after having been in Caracas. The works have already visited cities such as Shanghai, Seoul, and Paris, among others.

Streets in Color
We also carried out two interventions in public spaces for the community to enjoy: one in front of the Buenaventura Corrales school—known as the Metallic Building—and another at the plaza of the Museum of Costa Rican Art. The latter is the longest ephemeral walkway painted with a work by Cruz Diez ever created in the world, at 31 meters long, and many "Epanos" contributed their time as volunteers to help paint both crosswalks.

It is proven that art in public spaces transforms the urban environment, brings culture closer to people, beautifies, and creates a unique and accessible experience for everyone, and that is the reason why we decided to bring these works and carry out the interventions, because it allows us to reinforce our reason for being: Better homes for better citizens.
Without a doubt, this is an unmissable activity to enjoy as a family. Therefore, we invite you to visit the artworks and go take beautiful and creative photos at the interventions.
Remember that the MAC is located on the east side of La Sabana Metropolitan Park; its hours are Tuesday to Sunday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and admission is free.
