Name and description of the activity:
We committed to the public-private initiative Footprint of the Future to support them for 5 years, with the goal of re-greening the northern zone by planting and maintaining endemic, flowering, fruit, and timber trees. Last year, thanks to this alliance, we managed to create the Yellow Footprint forest in Las Delicias de Aguas Zarcas in San Carlos. This alliance seeks the rehabilitation of landscapes and ecosystems, as well as to offer employment for the maintenance of the forest, which is in charge of organizations led by local women.
Project objective:
Planting and maintenance of trees of species such as Azará, Cacao, Cas, Guava, Saragundí, Tucuico, Almond, Jacaranda, Mahogany, and the Yellow Cortez, the latter being the central icon of the Yellow Footprint forest, for the rehabilitation of landscapes and ecosystems.
Main results:
US$24,000 and 1,600 trees planted
